ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrical inverter circuit is provided for converting a DC electrical input into an AC electrical output. Alternately-switching semiconductor switches in the primary winding circuit of an output transformer are controlled by a control semiconductor. The control semiconductor is in circuit with the semiconductor switches and also carries primary winding current. A control circuit synchronously increases the electrical impedance of the control semiconductor during at least a portion of each switching transition of the semi- conductor switches to aid the switching action. A circuit is included for detecting the switching point as a function of primary winding current and controlling the switching transition of the semiconductor switches during the time of increased electrical impedance of the control semiconductor.
