TITLE OF THE INVENTION "Investigation of a specimen in a vial held in a rotatable turntable with temperature control". ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for use in investigating specimens comprises a turntable adapted to support a series of vials for containing liquid specimens with the vials arranged in a circular array centred on the rotational axis of the turntable, means for rotating the turntable to effect carriage of specimens under investigation, and means for dispensing predetermined quantities of liquid into the vials, the vials being presented in turn to the dispensing means by virtue of the rotation of the turntable. The dispensing means comprises a dispenser disposed adjacent the turntable and incorporating a tubular body having an inlet through which liquid may enter the body and an outlet comprising a dispensing tip through which liquid may be dispensed from the body into one of the vials. In order that the dispensing means may dispense liquid at a closely controlled temperature, the dispenser incorporates means for heating the tubular body and means for automatically controlling the heating means so as to maintain the tempera- ture of the liquid being dispensed substantially at a predetermined value. The apparatus may be used for analysing blood specimens. -1-
