An inward-looking imaging apparatus and method for capturing 360-degree inward- looking images of a three-dimensional object for use in a virtual reality display system comprises an array of multiple digital cameras for simultaneously recording multiple images of the object from multiple angles, a computer, including a modified camera driver program for simultaneously communicating with the cameras through a communication protocol, and imaging software for processing the images to remove unwanted background image segments. There is further included image assembling software for sorting and assembling the images and converting them to a single computer file in a format that can be displayed as a navigable 360-degree image on a virtual reality display program. Image processing can be controlled from a central location through the provision of an authorization number in exchange for payment of a fee prior to initiation of the image capture process.
La présente invention concerne un appareil et un procédé d'imagerie centripète servant à prendre des images centripètes à 360· d'un objet tridimensionnel destinées à un système pour spectacle à réalité virtuelle. Ce dispositif comprend, d'une part une batterie de caméras numériques permettant de prendre simultanément plusieurs images d'un objet sous différents angles, d'autre part un ordinateur dans lequel est chargé un logiciel modifié de pilotage de caméra pour des communications simultanées avec les caméras au moyen d'un protocole de communication, et enfin un logiciel d'imagerie permettant de traiter les images afin d'en retirer des segments d'image d'arrière plan non souhaités. Le dispositif inclut également un logiciel de montage d'image servant à trier et monter les images pour les convertir en un unique fichier informatique d'un format se prêtant à la mise en image de 360· ouverte à la navigation dans une émission de spectacle de réalité virtuelle. Le traitement d'image peut se commander depuis une position centrale par mise en oeuvre d'une logique à numéro d'autorisation contre paiement d'une redevance préalablement au lancement du processus de prise d'image.
