CA 2326087

An inward-looking imaging apparatus and method for capturing 360-degree inward-looking images of a three-dimensional object for use in a virtual reality display system comprises a multiple array of digital cameras for simultaneously recording multiple images of the object from multiple angles, a computer, including a modified camera driver program for simultaneously communicating with the cameras through a communication protocol, and imaging software for processing the images to remove unwanted image segments. There is further included image assembling software for sorting and assembling the images and converting them to a single computer file in a format that can be displayed as a navigable 360-degree image on a virtual reality display program. Image processing can be controlled from a central location through the provision of an authorization number in exchange for payment of a fee prior to initiation of the image capture process.
