ABSTRACT An endgate assembly for the back of a truck box, particularly an agricultural truck box such as a grain box, is provided. The endgate assembly comprises an endgate structure capable of being connected to at least one side wall and pivotably movable about a vertical axis and means for maintaining the endgate structure in a closed position. The endgate structure is capable of being swing inwardly from a closed position to an open position in which the endgate structure is substantially parallel to and closely adjacent at least one of the side walls of the truck box, whereby the interior of the truck box is substantially unobstructed. Accordingly, use of an endgate assembly made in accordance with the present invention facilitates the transportation of agricultural equipment and other objects longer than the length of the truck box.
