Abstract: An iodine-containing compound consisting of at least two repeating units selected from the formulae: -(CH2CF2CF2O)a- -(CHClCF2CF2O)b- -(CCl2CF2CF2O)c- -(CHFCF2CF2O)d- -(CFClCF2CF2O)e- -(CF2CF2CF2O)f- wherein a, b, c, d, e and f are each 0 or a positive integer and satisfy the following equations: 2 ? a+b+c+d+e+f ? 200 and 1 ? a+c+d+f and an iodine atom at at least one end of a molecule, which can provide a block copolymer. The block copolymer obtained is useful as a grease or as an ingredient of a grease composition.
