A method for preparation of iodizing agent for the use in the formulation of iodised salt that offers excellent stability of iodine in iodised salt is developed and the unrefined salt iodised with this compound was tested for its stability in presence of moisture, temperature and metal salts at higher temperature. The hydrotalcite type layered compound was used to prepare such compound and part of carbonate was substituted with iodate anion. The iodising agent exhibited excellent stability of iodine in iodised salt.

L'invention concerne le développement d'un procédé de préparation d'un agent iodant destiné à être utilisé dans la préparation de sel iodé et qui offre une excellente stabilité de l'iode dans le sel iodé. Le sel iodé non raffiné iodé à l'aide dudit composé a été testé pour sa stabilité en présence d'humidité, de température et de sels métalliques à température élevée. Le composé en couches de type hydrotalcite a été utilisé pour préparer ledit composé et une partie du carbonate a été remplacé par un anion iodate. L'agent iodant offre une excellente stabilité de l'iode dans le sel iodé.
