Abstract of the Disclosure Solid, crystalline glass ceramic compositions which are useful as ionic conductor materials, especially for use as solid electrolytes in high temperature, high energy density storage batteries. The glass ceramics are derived from alkali or alkaline earth borates containing one or more metal halides, preferably the chlorides, bromides and iodides of the metals from Group 2 to 8 of the Periodic Table of the Elements.
