An ionically conductive agent having means for reducing passivation of metal subject to anodic dissolution is disclosed. The ionically conductive agent (30) is interposed between metal to be protected from corrosion (60) and metal to be sacrified (20) to provide cathodic protection. An electrical connection (80) between the two metals completes a galvanic circuit The means for reducing passivation can be either a complexing agent (40) for ions of the metal to be sacrificed or can be a membrane to inhibit flow of ions that would affect the ability of the ionically conductive medium to support continued anodic metal dissolution. The ionically conductive agent and a system for cathodic protection using the ionically conductive agent is particularly suitable for a galvanic circuit to cathodically protect reinforcement bars in concrete structures such as transportation bridges, transportation highways, parking facilities, and balconies exposed to corrosive environments.
On décrit un agent à conductivité ionique capable de diminuer la passivation d'un métal sensible à la dissolution anodique. L'agent à conductivité ionique (30) est appliqué entre le métal à protéger (60) de la corrosion et le métal à sacrifier (20) pour assurer la protection cathodique. Une connexion électrique (80) entre les deux métaux complète un circuit galvanique. Le moyen pour diminuer la passivation peut être soit un agent (40) capable de complexer des ions du métal sacrifié, soit une membrane inhibant le flux d'ions qui pourraient influer sur la capacité du milieu à conductivité ionique à assurer la dissolution continue du métal anodique. L'agent à conductivité ionique et un système de protection cathodique utilisant l'agent à conductivité ionique conviennent particulièrement bien à un circuit galvanique pour assurer une protection cathodique de barres de renforcement dans des structures en béton, telles que les ponts pour véhicules, les autoroutes, les parkings et les balcons exposés à des environnements corrosifs.
