An aqueous base suspension concentrate or use of ionophore antibiotic(s) capable of aqueous dilution (if desired) and capable (with or without such aqueous dilution) of being orally administered to an animal (e.g. by drenching) to prevent or treat conditions treatable by an ionophore antibiotic such as monensin (e.g. bloat, coccidiosis, et al), said concentrate comprising: (I) at least one ionophore antibiotic in (II) an aqueous system containing: (i) optionally a wetting and/or surfactant agent, (ii) optionally, an antifreeze agent or agents in which the ionophore antibiotic or antibiotics is or are no more than sparingly soluble (preferably organic, e.g. a glycol), (iii) a suspension agent (optionally Xanthan gum), (iv) optionally an antifoam agent or system (optionally a Simethicone and particulate carrier system), (v) optionally a preservative, (vi) optionally a de-battering agent, (vii) optionally a pH buffering system, and (viii) water, wherein (iii) is Xanthan gum or at least two of (i), (ii) and (iii) are present in (II).

L'invention porte sur une suspension concentrée à base aqueuse permettant d'utiliser un ou des antibiotiques ionophores, susceptible de dilution dans de l'eau (si nécessaire) et à même (avec ou sans cette dilution aqueuse) d'être administrée par voie orale à un animal (p.ex. dans un breuvage) afin de prévenir ou de traiter des troubles pouvant être traités par un antibiotique ionophore tel que le monensin (p.ex. le ballonnement ou la coccidiose et autres). Ce concentré comprend (I), au moins un antibiotique ionophore dans (II), un système aqueux contenant, i) éventuellement un agent mouillant ou tensioactif, ii) éventuellement un agent anti-gel ou des agents dans lesquels le ou les antibiotiques ionophores ne sont que modérément solubles (de préférence une substance organique comme un glycol), iii) un agent de mise en suspension (éventuellement une gomme de xanthane), iv) éventuellement un agent ou un système antimoussant (éventuellement un Siméthicone et un système d'excipient particulaire), v) éventuellement un conservateur, vi) éventuellement un agent de neutralisation de l'amertume, vii) éventuellement un système tampon de pH et viii) de l'eau. Dans ce concentré, l'agent de suspension est une gomme de xanthane et au moins deux des agents (i), (ii) et (iii) sont présents dans le système aqueux (II).
