The device has a preprogrammable control element which controls the iontotherapeutic administration in accordance with a prescription and other instructions entered into the control element by interface with a computer system and which can communicate data on the iontotherapy by interface with a computer system. It also provides an iontotherapeutic process for automated transdermal administration of ionized pharmaceuticals by use of the device. Also provided is a novel battery belt adaptable for use with the device.
