Iridium complexes and use thereof Abstract Optically active iridium complex of the formula I Image (I). in which the Image group contains at least one chiral C atom, R1 and R2 together are unsubstituted or C1-C4-alkyl- substituted -(CH2)4- or R1 is alkyl, unsubstituted or C1-C4- alkyl substituted, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl or alkaralkyl and R2 is H, Y is the anion of a monobasic inorganic or organic acid, and Y and Z are each ethylene or Y and Z together are an open-chain or cyclodiene having 6 to 10 C atoms whose diene groups are bonded via 1 or 2 C atoms, are suitable for use as enantioselective homogeneous catalysts.
