An improved iron aluminide alloy of the DO3 type that has increased room temperature ductility and improved high elevated temperature strength. The alloy system further is resistant to corrosive attack in the environments of advanced energy corrosion systems such as those using fossil fuels. The resultant alloy is relatively inexpensive as contrasted to nickel based and high nickel steels currently utilized for structural components. The alloy system consists essentially of 26-30 at.% aluminum, 0.5-10 at.% chromium, 0.02-0.3 at.% boron plus carbon, up to 2 at.% molybdenum, up to 1 at.% niobium, up to 0.5 at.% zirconium, up to 0.1 at.% yttrium, up to 0.5 at.% vanadium and the balance iron.

Alliage d'aluminiure de fer amélioré de type DO3 dont la ductilité à la température de la pièce est supérieure et dont la résistance à température élevée est améliorée. De plus, le système d'alliage est résistant à la corrosion dans les environnements qui caractérisent les systèmes de conversion d'énergie avancés comme ceux qui font appel aux combustibles fossiles. L'alliage obtenu est relativement peu coûteux comparativement aux aciers nickelés et aux aciers à grande teneur en nickel actuellement utilisés pour les composantes structurales. Le système d'alliage comprend essentiellement, en pourcentage atomique, 26-30 % d'aluminium, 0,5-10 % de chrome, 0,02-0,3 % de bore plus du carbone, jusqu'à 2 % de molybdène, jusqu'à 1 % de niobium, jusqu'à 0,5 % de zirconium, jusqu'à 0,1 % d'yttrium, jusqu'à 0,5 % de vanadium, le reste étant du fer.
