IMPROVED IRON-BASED AMORPHOUS ALLOYS CONTAINING COBALT ABSTRACT Metallic alloys are disclosed which are at least about 90% amorphous, having enhanced magnetic properties and consist essentially of a composition represented by the formula Fea-bCobBcSidCe, wherein "a", "b", "c", "d" and "e" are atomic percentages ranging from about 75 to about 85, about .1 to about .8, about 12 to about 15, about 2 to about 5 and about 1 to about 3, respectively. Magnetic cores comprising such alloys, including cores having been subjected to a field anneal, are also disclosed.
