ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of feeding piglets during the first four to six weeks of their life is disclosed. This method ensures the piglets have an optimal haemoglobin percentage which reduces anaemia. The method includes feeding an aqueous iron-salt solu- tion to ensure the supply of liquid and iron by ad libitum intake, and is characterized in that an approximately isotonic aqueous solution having a ph of 2.0 to 4.0 of an iron glutamin acid compound with a concentration of maximum 2% Fe utilized in supplying each animal with 25-50 Mg Fe per diem from the first day of the piglet's life until and including its sixth week of life.
