A curable, polymer-based composite material consists essentially of a curable polymeric component, and iron ferrite particles. The polymeric component may be a styrene butadiene resin. The composite material may be a sports article having a rollable shape which is generally spherical and with a size that accommodates use as a puck-like object (11) for playing hockey. The body includes a central substantially uncured section and an outer substantially cured section. The composite material (10) may also be a fishing weight or be used as a lead substitute which is magnetizable. The composite material (10) may also be used in sound-dampening system that includes a first layer of an expanded polymeric material bonded to the first layer. A method of forming a filled rubber composite material (10) comprising a curable rubber-based resin, and filler, which may be said iron ferrite particles is also disclosed.
L'invention a pour objet un matériau composite à base de polymère durcissable, constitué essentiellement d'un constituant polymère durcissable et de particules de fer sous forme de ferrite. Le constituant polymère peut être une résine de styrène-butadiène. Le matériau composite peut être un article de sport qui, de par sa forme généralement sphérique, peut rouler et qui, de par sa taille, est destiné à être utilisé comme galet (11) de hockey. Le corps comprend une partie centrale sensiblement non durcie et une partie extérieure sensiblement durcie. Le matériau composite (10) peut être aussi un plomb de pêche ou être utilisé comme substitut de plomb magnétisable. Ce matériau composite (10) peut en outre être utilisé dans un système d'amortissement acoustique composé d'une première couche de matériau composite et d'une deuxième couche de matériau polymère expansé collée à la première. L'invention a également pour objet une méthode de fabrication d'un matériau composite de caoutchouc plein (10) constitué d'une résine à base de caoutchouc durcissable et d'un matériau de remplissage, celui-ci pouvant être constitué desdites particules de fer-ferrite.
