Iron oxide coated perlescent pigments Abstract The application relates to a perlescent pigment based on platelet-like substrates, in particular mica, coated with metal oxides, the metal oxide layer containing not only titanium but also iron, characterized in that the pigment has a multilayer structure in which a first layer of TiO2 in the rutile form is followed by a layer of pseudobrookite and an iron oxide layer.
