A B S T R A C T This invention is directed to a powder suitable for the preparation of a hematinic suspension which pro- vides for controlled release of the iron contained in said powder. The powder to which this invention refers consists essentially of particles below a diameter of 50 microns. It is an iron adsorbate containing a specified amount of ferrous ions adsorbed on a specified cation exchange resin.
