An irradiated multilayer film has a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is an outer heat seal layer containing a blend of a highly branched homogenous polymer and a semicrystalline polymer. The highly branched homogenous polymer has at least 40 branches per 1000 methylene groups, an M~w/M~n less than than 3.0, and a density of less than 0.89 g/cc. The highly branched homogenous polymer is present in an amount of from about 5 to 50 weight percent, based on layer weight. The semicrystalline polyolefin has a density of at least 0.90 g/cc. The semicrystalline polyolefin is present in an amount of from about 50 to 95 weight percent, based on total layer weight. The second layer contains a thermoplastic polymer in a crosslinked polymer network. A process for making a packaging article includes coextruding the first and second layers, irradiating the resulting multilayer film, and thereafter heat sealing the first layer to itself or another component of the packaging article.
L'invention concerne un film multicouche irradi~ comprenant une premire et une deuxime couche. La premire couche constitue une couche d'~tanch~it~ ext~rieure contenant un m~lange constitu~ d'un polymre homogne hautement ramifi~ et d'un polymre semicristallin. Le polymre homogne hautement ramifi~ comporte au moins 40 ramifications pour 1000 groupes m~thylne, et il pr~sente un rapport M´w?/M´n? inf~rieur ~ 3,0 et une densit~ inf~rieure ~ 0,89 g/cc. Ce polymre homogne hautement ramifi~ est pr~sent en quantit~ comprise entre environ 5 et 50 % en poids, en fonction du poids de la couche. La polyol~fine semicristalline est pr~sente en quantit~ comprise entre 50 et 95 % en poids, en fonction du poids total de la couche. La deuxime couche contient un polymre thermoplastique dans un r~seau de polymres r~ticul~s. L'invention concerne ~galement un proc~d~ de fabrication d'articles d'emballage consistant ~ co-extruder les premire et deuxime couches, ~ irradier le film multicouche r~sultant, puis ~ thermosceller la premire couche sur elle-mÚme ou sur un autre ~l~ment de l'article d'emballage.
