Thermally activated, free-radical initiator-containing polymer compositions comprise a (i) free radical initiator, (ii) free radical crosslinkable polymer, (iii) scorch inhibiting amount and/or a cure-boosting amount of at least one of isocyanate, diisocyanate, e.g., MDI, or hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate compound, e.g., hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, and, optionally, (iv) other scorch retardants and/or cure boosters, e.g., a TEMPO compound, a hindered phenol, alpha-methyl styrene dimer, etc.. The free radical initiator can be any thermally activated compound that is relatively unstable and easily breaks into at least two radicals, e.g., a peroxide or azo initiator. The crosslinkable polymer is a thermoplastic and/or elastomeric polymer that can be crosslinked (cured) through the action of a crosslinking agent, e.g., LDPE. The isocyanate, diisocyanate and (meth)acrylate scorch inhibitors and/or cure boosters can be used alone, or in combination with one another, or, optionally, in combination with a TEMPO compound, e.g., 4-hydroxy-TEMPO.
L'invention concerne des compositions polymères contenant un radical libre amorceur thermiquement activées comprenant (i) un radical libre amorceur, (ii) un polymère à radical libre réticulable, (iii) une quantité permettant d'inhiber le griffage et/ou une quantité permettant de favoriser le durcissement d'au moins un composé isocyanate, diisocyanate, par exemple MDI ou (méth)acrylate d'hydroxyalkyle, par exemple le (méth)acrylate d'hydroxyéthyle et, facultativement, (iv) d'autres agents de ralentissement de griffage et/ou d'accélération de durcissement, par exemple un composé TEMPO, un phénol encombré, un dimère d'alpha-méthyl styrène, etc. Le radical libre amorceur peut être un composé thermiquement activé quelconque relativement instable et se décomposant facilement dans au moins deux radicaux, par exemple un peroxyde ou un amorceur azoïque. Le polymère réticulable est un polymère thermoplastique et/ou élastomère qui peut être réticulé (durci) par l'intermédiaire de l'action d'un agent de réticulation, par exemple le LDPE. Les inhibiteurs de griffage et/ou accélérateurs de durcissement isocyanate, diisocyanate et (méth)acrylate peuvent être utilisés seuls ou en combinaison les uns avec les autres ou, facultativement, en combinaison avec un composé TEMPO, par exemple le 4-hydroxy-TEMPO.
