A b s t r a c t The patent is concerned with a new compound which is 1-methyl-2- -(3'-sulphenyl-4'-chlorobenzamido)-isoindoline of formula : Image This compound, which is endowed with diuretic, salutaric and hypo- tensive activity, is prepared : a) reacting .alpha.-methyl-.alpha.,.alpha.'-dibromo-o.xylene with t.butylcarbazate, b) decomposing the thus obtained 1-methyl-N-(t.butyloxycarbonylami- no)-isoindoline to the corresponding amino compound, c) reacting the 1-methy1-2-amino-isoindoline hydrochloride with a halide of 4-chloro-sulphamido benzoic acid.
