A chimeric gene for transforming plants is disclosed. The gene includes, in the transcription direction, at least one promoter region, one transgene and one regulator region. Said regulator region consists of at least one intron 1 in the non-coding 5' region of a plant histone gene enabling expression of the protein in rapid growth regions. The production of transgenic plants is also disclosed.
