The present invention relates to isolated canine animal plasma, a method for isolating canine animal plasma, plasma obtained form an immunised or hyperimmunised canine animal and treating a canine animal with the isolated canine animal plasma. The method includes the step of selecting a canine animal having a blood group compatible with a recipient canine animal having an unmatched blood group, namely, selecting a canine animal for a blood group that does not cause plasma transfusion reaction and/or haemolysis. In one form, the method includes the step of immunising or hyperimmunising a canine animal plasma donor with one or more antigens of a canine animal pathogen. The pathogen is preferably a bacteria or virus.

L'invention concerne un plasma isolé d'animal canin, un procédé d'isolation de plasma d'animal canin, un plasma obtenu à partir d'un animal canin immunisé ou hyperimmunisé et un traitement administré à un animal canin à l'aide du plasma isolé d'animal canin. Le procédé consiste à sélectionner un animal canin possédant un groupe sanguin compatible avec un animal canin récepteur possédant un groupe sanguin non compatible et, essentiellement, à sélectionner un animal canin possédant un groupe sanguin qui ne provoque pas de réaction à une transfusion de plasma et/ou une hémolyse. Dans un mode de réalisation, le procédé consiste à immuniser ou hyperimmuniser un donneur de plasma d'animal canin à l'aide d'un ou de plusieurs antigène(s) d'un pathogène d'animal canin. Ledit pathogène est, de préférence, une bactérie ou un virus.
