ISOLATION OF DIFFERENTIATED CELLS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is disclosed a method for isolating a population of differentiated cells from a tissue of a differentiated organism for the further purpose of extracting therefrom mRNA enriched with respect to a specific nucleotide sequence coding for a specific protein. The desired cell population is released from the tissue along with other cells present in the tissue by treatment of the tissue with a hydrolytic enzyme capable of selectively degrading connective tissue without damaging the desired cells and the desired cells are separated from other cell types by a centrifugation procedure and further purified by manual manipulations.
