A B S T R A C T A process for the isomerisation of a cis or trans 2-cyano- 3-azabicyclo [3.1.0]hexane, wherein a compound of the general formula Image (I) wherein the group CN and the Image moiety are in a cis or trans configuration, and wherein: R1 and R2 independently represent hydrogen, halogen, or an alkyl group of up to 6 carbon atoms; and R3 and R4 independently represent hydrogen or an alkyl group of up to 6 carbon atoms, is contacted with a solvent in the presence of a compound containing, or capable under the isomerisation conditions of generating, free cyanide moieties.
