The present invention provides a means of exercising the trunk inclusive of the abdominal and lower back musculatures wherein posture of the trunk during the resistive exercise is kinesiologically correct. This means that the natural curves of the spine are maintained and supported while the resistive exercise is being performed. In performing the isometric resistive exercise, the user's forearm's rest upon an adjustable platform positioned at chest level and that is contoured to the body. The body transfers force to the platform which is resisted by mechanisms encased in the abdominal guide arm. The adjustable back rest of the machine is contoured to accommodate the natural curves of the spine. The body transfers force to the back rest which is resisted by mechanisms encased in the back support. The exercise performed on this machine is isometric as the trunk remains in a neutral position.
