Computer-implemented iterative multi-scale methods and systems are provided for handling simulation of complex, highly anisotropic, heterogeneous domains. A system and method can be configured to achieve simulation of structures where accurate localization assumptions do not exist. The iterative system and method smoothes the solution field by applying line relaxation in all spatial directions. The smoother is unconditionally stable and leads to sets of tri-diagonal linear systems that can be solved efficiently, such as by the Thomas algorithm. Furthermore, the iterative smoothing procedure, for the improvement of the localization assumptions, does not need to be applied in every time step of the computation.

L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes multi-échelle itératifs mis en uvre par ordinateur permettant de gérer une simulation de domaines complexes, fortement anisotropes et hétérogènes. Un système et un procédé peuvent être configurés pour permettre une simulation de structures où il n'existe pas de suppositions d'emplacements précises. Le système et le procédé itératifs lissent le champ de la solution en appliquant une relaxation linéaire dans toutes les directions spatiales. Le facteur de lissage est stable dans n'importe quelle condition et conduit à des ensembles de systèmes linéaires tridiagonaux qui peuvent être résolus efficacement, par exemple au moyen de l'algorithme de Thomas. De plus, le procédé de lissage itératif, pour l'amélioration des suppositions d'emplacements, n'a pas besoin d'être appliqué à chaque étape du calcul.
