Jar lid opener that also can be used to grip only or to grip and then apply rotating force to the other cylinder surfaces as well such as pipes, bolts, nuts, jar necks. Jar lid opener consists of a flexible yoke to embrace and then grip the lid, a case of an appropriate form having cuts to insert the yoke ends into the case. The case forms optimum (or close to optimum) position of the yoke relative to the lid when the lid is pressed toward the case's butt-end by the yoke. This position provides prevalence of forces tightening the yoke around the lid over the forces causing sliding of the yoke along the side surface of the lid when the rotating moment is applied to the case to open the jar lid. The guides inside the case form the outside yoke shape close to the lid one. There is a pulling screw one end of which is screwed to the nut inside the case and the other end is passed to outside the case through the hole or cut at the case's butt-end opposite to the one the lid is pressed toward to. Outside end of the screw does have a handle to rotate the screw. Both yoke ends are attached to the nut the pulling screw is screwed to, this nut does have such shape and size that it cannot be rotated inside the case, so when the screw is rotated, the nut is moving along the case in the case's cavity and pulls or pushes the yoke ends. Pulling screw does have a stop preventing the screw from leaving the case. Case does have a cover that is connected to the case by glue, screws or by other means for convenient assembling of the jar lid opener.
