A total knee replacement prosthesis (TKR) is described comprising a femoral component (2) having a pair of condylar-bearing surfaces and a tibial component (4) having dished tibial bearing surfaces and anterior (A) and posterior (P) sides, wherein the condylar-bearing surfaces and tibial-bearing surfaces are so shaped that when viewed as a series of transverse slices extending transversely to the anterior-posterior direction, contact points (L1, L2, L3, M1, M2, M3) between the bearing surfaces are displaced posteriorly with flexion and anteriorly with extension or vice versa, and each contact point constitutes the lowest point on the tibial bearing surface at a given angle of flexion (Alpha, Beta).
L'invention concerne une prothèse (TKR) totale de genou comportant un élément fémoral (2) présentant deux surfaces de support de condyle et un élément tibial (4) présentant des surfaces de support tibial incurvées et des faces antérieure (A) et postérieure (P). Les surfaces de support de condyle et les surfaces de support tibial sont façonnées de telle sorte que, si on les considère comme une série de tranches transversales s'étendant transversalement au sens antérieur-postérieur, les points de contact (L1, L2, L3, M1, M2, M3) situés entre les surfaces de support se déplacent postérieurement lors d'une flexion et antérieurement lors d'une extension, ou vice versa, et chaque point de contact constitue le point le plus bas de la surface de support tibial à un angle de flexion (.alpha., .beta.) donné.
