Known large vibrating conveyors are not readily suitable as such for conveying bulk materials or small articles into or out of a liquid bath, because the liquid (2), as a result of its incompressibility, transmits the vibrations to other constructional parts, for example the liquid vessel (1). To remedy this, it is proposed to provide underneath the vibrating part (2) a compressible space (9) which, when suitably coordinated with the liquid bath, damps the vibrations. The space (9) is preferably gas-filled, and its damping properties can be varied by feeding additional gas via a line (16) which can be shut off by means of a member (17), or by bleeding some of the filling via a further line (18) which can likewise be shut off by means of a member (19).
