This invention relates to a jigsaw puzzle that makes several different pictures with the same pieces. To make a simple puzzle according to this invention one first makes a composite cutting pattern comprised of three different scroll saw type patterns (e.g. outline drawings) superimposed one upon the other. Two visually contrasting puzzle boards are then stack cut with this composite cutting pattern. The result is a puzzle wherein the puzzler can select any one of the three patterns as a guide picture and, using all the puzzle pieces, proceed to assemble two puzzle boards, each with the same outline picture but with reversed contrasting tones, the various picture elements such as shapes and spaces and light and dark areas being defined by the visually contrasting puzzle pieces. The number of pictures that can be included in a puzzle design of this type is theoretically unlimited. One need only increase the number of outline drawings superimposed one upon the other to make the composite cutting pattern. Surprisingly, all the puzzle pieces are employed to complete the puzzle no matter which picture is being constructed.
