A method of reducing jitter in a local clock of a synchronised USB device attached to a USB Hub, the USB Hub having a local clock and repeater circuitry, comprising: observing a USB data stream with the USB Hub, the data stream having a data stream bit rate; the USB Hub decoding a periodic signal structure in the USB data stream; the USB Hub generating an event signal in response to decoding of the periodic signal structure; and the USB Hub locking a frequency of the local clock of the USB Hub to the periodic event signal. The local clock of the USB Hub is adapted to be a clocking source for the repeater circuitry of the USB Hub at substantially an integer multiple of a frequency of the data stream bit rate.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de réduire la gigue dans une horloge locale d'un dispositif USB synchronisé relié à un noeud USB, le noeud USB comprenant une horloge locale et un ensemble de circuits répéteurs. Le procédé consiste à observer un flux de données USB avec le noeud USB, le flux de données USB ayant un débit binaire du flux de données; le noeud USB génère un signal d'évènement en réponse au décodage de la structure de signal périodique; puis le noeud USB bloque une fréquence de l'horloge locale du noeud USB pour le signal d'évènement périodique. L'horloge locale du noeud USB est conçu pour être une source de synchronisation pour l'ensemble de circuits répéteurs du noeud USB essentiellement à un entier multiple d'une fréquence du débit binaire du flux de données.
