ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for enabling an end of metallic strip produced from power to be threaded through for example a heating furnace, comprises securing a strip end to a leader by means of an aqueous compound whose water content is selected so that it is readily absorbed by the porous strip in order to provide sufficient adhesion to enable the leader to support and guide the strip.
