An apparatus for making box blanks from a continuous strip has a supply coil of the strip, at least two longitudinally spaced pairs of drive rollers pinching the strip and defining a longitudinally extending treatment path for the strip, and drives for rotating the drive rollers at respective speeds and for ad- vancing the strip along the path in a travel direction. At least one respective pair of work rollers is provided between each pair of drive rollers and the pair of drive rollers immediately down- stream therefrom in the direction. Respective stamping tools on at least one of the rollers of each of the pairs of work rollers are engageable with the strip and respective individual drives for the pairs of work rollers rotate same at respective speeds and bring the respective tools into engagement with the strip at intervals that are a function of the rotation speed of the work and drive rollers. A controller operated in accordance with a program and connected to the drive-roller drives operates same at respective speeds to displace, accelerate, and stretch the strip and is connected to the work rollers for operating same at re- spective speeds to stamp the strip with the respective tools in accordance with the box blank to be produced.
