ABREGE DESCRIPTIF L'invention concerne une composition de teinture des fibres kératiniques, et en particulier des cheveux humains, comprenant le colorant azoique de formule: Image éventuellement en assoeiation avee au moins un eolorant nitré benzénique ou un colorant aminoanthraquinonique, ou avec au moins un eolorant nitré benzénique et au moins un eolorant aminoanthraquinonique. Ce colorant azoïque est non mutagène, possède de bonnes propriétés de solubilité dans les supports de teinture usuels et conduit sur cheveux à des teintures stables, notamment au lavage. Il est préparé par desacétyla- tion par l'acide chlorhydrique concentré, en présence ou non d'éthanol, du composé obtenu par action du sel de diazonium de la p-acétamidoaniline sur la 3-méthyl N,N-bis(.beta.-hydroxy- éthyl)aniline.
