ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hybrid key for operating both electronic and mechanical locks has the electrical components in a separate and removable housing which is normally secured to the bow portion of the key blade but may be removed, the disclosed means for securing the electrical housing to the key bow is via a configuration including grooves in the housing, a hook portion on the key bow, and holes through the housing and bow at a single point for rivet securing means.
