ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a renal pep- tide a renal peptide, called RK-1, which comprises the following amino acid sequence: Image SEQ ID No: 1 or functional analogs thereof. There is also provided polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies or antigen binding fragments thereof specifically bind to the RK-1 peptide of the present invention. There is also provided a kit for measuring the amount of the RK-1 peptide, which comprises: I) a solid support having bound thereto a first antibody raised against the RK-1 peptide; II) a second antibody raised against the RK-1 peptide or antigen binding fragments thereof, the second antibody being labeled indirectly detected; and III) a known amount of the RK-1 peptide. In accordance with the present invention there is provided a method for the determination of the RK-1 peptide in a biological sample or functional analogs thereof, which essentially comprises using the kit in accordance with the present invention. There is also provided a method for identifying antagonist peptide of the RK-1 peptide of the present invention or functional analogs thereof.
