11 The operating mechanism of the lid of a high temperature kiln has two double- axes hinges mounted between the rear edge of the lid and the rear side wall of the kiln. Two levers are mounted pivotally to two axes located at two sides of the kiln. The lid is maintained in the opened position by two pivotally levers spring mounted to the two sides of the kiln. Additional spring mounted pivotal support arms may be provided to support the levers. The mechanism facilitates the lifting and lowering of the kiln lid safely and prevents deformation to occur in the kiln body due to the weight of the lid exerting on the side wall of the kiln.
