A method suited for prolonging freshness of a living, edible plant which is packed in a meal kit with at least one other meal ingredient or component, characterized in that the plant's roots remain in effective contact with a moisture donating source, such that during storage of the meal kit for several days the moisture source can donate to the plant or plant part enough of an aqueous fluid to ensure preservation of its freshness.

L'invention concerne un procédé approprié pour prolonger la fraîcheur d'une plante vivante comestible, qui est conditionné dans un coffret-repas comprenant au moins un autre ingrédient ou constituant. Ledit procédé se caractérise en ce que les racines de la plante demeurent en contact actif avec une source fournissant de l'humidité, de manière qu'au cours du stockage du coffret-repas pendant plusieurs jours, la source d'humidité puisse fournir suffisamment de liquide aqueux à la plante ou à une partie de la plante, afin d'en assurer la fraîcheur.
