ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A knock-out tool for use with a coiled tubing string consists of a relatively large diameter central portion with a reduced diameter upper portion extending upwardly and being connectable to the lower end of the tubing string. A similar reduced diameter lower portion or spear extends downwardly from the underside of the center portion. The center portion centers the tool in the casing so that the spear enters the packer in the well casing and knocks out the removable plug. The tool is longitudinally apertured or drilled so that com- pressed air or gas can clear away sand or the like from the top of the packer as the tool approaches the packer. A shoul- dered ring or collar is detachably secured for limited sliding movement upon the spear adjacent the center portion of the tool and when the ring strikes the top end of the packer, the pin is sheared. When withdrawn to the surface, the fact that the pin has been sheared indicates that the spear has entered the packer and dislodged the detachable plug.
