The gate closure device draws a stretch gate taut during the opening and closing of the gate. The device is mounted on a stationary post at a fence opening. A removable linkage is provided between the stationary post and a mobile post via a cable. Once cable is looped over mobile post, the device handle or crank is rotated, with minimal effort, to shorten length of cable in winch type performance, thus causing a tightening of the cable. Once the mobile and stationary posts are in parallel alignment, a stoppage pin is inserted into the device thus locking and securing the gate closed.
