Substantially pure 1:1 L-form transition metal methionine complex salts are formed. The preferred transition metals are zinc, chromium, manganese and iron. Salts are formed by reaction with pure L-form methionine. As a result, dosages for supplementa- tion can by way of example be one-half the amount used in raecemic mixtures of salts.
