There are herein disclosed an L-type zeolite catalyst which is obtainable by supporting a platinum component, one or more halogen components and one or more metal components selected from the group Ib of the periodic table on an L-type zeolite, the support amount of one or more metal components selected from the group Ib being in the range of 0.001 to 3% by weight based on the total weight of the catalyst in terms of the metal, a molar ratio of one or more metal components selected from the group Ib/platinum being in the range of 0.01 to 1; and a method for producing aromatic hydrocarbons or a gasoline having a high octane number which comprises the step of bringing one or more fractions selected from a C6 fraction, a C7 frac-tion, and a C8+ fraction into contact with this catalyst. According to the present invention, there are provided a catalyst containing an L-type zeolite as a carrier which is desirable as a catalyst for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons or a gasoline having a high octane number and which can inhibit a cracking activity and the formation of coke and can improve an aromatic selectivity and a liquid yield.

La présente invention concerne un catalyseur zéolite de type L qui s'obtient en -aisant supporter à un zéolite de type L un composant platine, un ou plusieurs composants halogène et un ou plusieurs composants métal pris dans le groupe Ib de la table périodique des éléments, la composante support du ou des composants métal pris dans le groupe Ib représentant de 0,001 à 3 % en poids du poids total du catalyseur en termes de métal, le rapport molaire du ou des composants métal pris dans le groupe Ib/platine se situant entre 0,01 et 1. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'obtention d'hydrocarbures aromatiques ou d'une essence à indice d'octane élevé. Ce procédé consiste à: mettre une ou plusieurs fractions prises dans une fraction C6, une fraction C7 et une fraction C8<+>, en contact avec ce catalyseur. Selon la présente invention, on fait intervenir un catalyseur renfermant un zéolite de type L en tant que support, qui convient pour la production d'hydrocarbures aromatiques ou d'une essence à indice d'octane élevé, qui est capable d'inhiber une activité de craquage et la formation de coke, et qui peut par ailleurs améliorer la sélectivité aromatique et le rendement en liquide.
