ABSTRACT The drawings and description disclose a label applicator arrangement wherein labels are stripped one-at-a-time from a single width backing strip, and then retained on a moving chain by vacuum and conveyed to a discharge position just above a conveyor carrying meat or cheese packages. In this arrangement, one label is being printed to reflect a particular package weight, whereupon it is stripped from the backing strip and drawn onto the chain by the vacuum, while another label is being applied to the appropriate package at the discharge position.
