This invention relates to a label continuum comprising a long label substrate, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed by transferring to the back of the label substrate and a release layer formed on the surface of the label substrate. The label substrate is rolled up such that the release layer and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer are false-stuck to each other. The invention also relates to a method for producing a continuum having a printed layer comprising applying a release agent to one side of an elongated processing sheet; applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive agent on said release agent; laminating an elongated substrate onto said pressure-sensitive adhesive agent; printing a printing layer on said substrate; applying a release layer on said printing layer; separating said processing sheet with its release layer from said substrate to provide an elongated laminate which includes said pressure- sensitive adhesive agent, said substrate, said printing layer and said release layer; and rolling up said elongated laminate into a roll in which said release layer is in contact with said pressure-sensitive adhesive agent to thereby provide temporary adhesion between said release layer and said pressure-sensitive adhesive layer until the laminate is unrolled from said roll.
