Abstract of the Disclosure A labelling station has at least one pick up element mounted, pivotably or rotatably, for labels which are to be applied one above the other to objects such as bottles, and also has a gripper cylinder carrying gripper and pressure elements for the upper and lower labels, arranged eccen- trically upon a rotating carrier and tangentially to the peripheral path of the pick-up element. The labels are transferred by the gripper and pressure elements to bottles moving along a track, the label areas of the bottles being at different distances from the axis of the gripper cylinder. The carrier for the gripper and pressure elements consists of two parts, arranged one above the other and eccentrically of each other, and carrying the upper and lower gripper elements on different radii. The parts rotate at the same angular velocity, and the peripheral paths of the parts for the upper and lower gripper and pressure elements are offset from each other in the label- ling area by a distance corresponding to the radial spacing of the areas to be labelled on the bottles.
