The invention concerns a novel laboratory test for assessing the tendency of a gasoline, optionally containing an additive, to cause deposits while the engine is running, comprising the following steps: placing a tube in the oven of a gas chromatograph oven; maintaining said tube at a constant temperature under a constant air flow; injecting the gasoline or additive-containing gasoline to be tested through said tube; and determining the amount of deposits formed by weighing the tube after removal.

Un nouveau test de laboratoire destiné à évaluer la tendance d'une essence, éventuellement additivée, à faire des dépôts au cours du fonctionnement d'un moteur comprend les étapes suivantes: on place un tube dans le four de l'injecteur d'un chromatographe en phase gazeuse; on maintient ledit tube à une température constante sous un débit d'air constant; on injecte l'essence ou l'essence additivée à évaluer à travers ledit tube; et on détermine la quantité de dépôts formés par pesée dudit tube après démontage.
