ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A powered polymer is applied to the surface of a newly extruded lace while its surface is still tacky. This produces a granular layer which may be converted into a smooth coating by reheating to melt the coating and passing through a second die. This method is particularly intended for applying coatings to laces made by the hot tube process.
