A lacing system for skating boot comprising a mix of fixed and floating eyelets provides flexibility without requiring a break-in period of wear. The past vertical, fixed eyelets accommodates a knees-flexed position of a skater, and the independently movable, floating eyelets provides a comfortable but close fit of the boot. Notches in the area of the floating eyelets further reduces buckling or creasing of the material at about the instep region. An optional lacing ring below the notch aids in dispersing tension at the flex region and also aids is preventing creasing of the material. Thus, increased flexibility and comfort is provided without the usual break-in period and without loss of foot support or durability. -12-
