The invention concerns the isolation of novel properties of lactic acid bacteria strains. Said novel properties are advantageously useful for preventing and treating cancer. More particularly, the invention concerns the use of lactic acid bacteria to facilitate induction of cell apoptosis of a cancer. The invention also concerns the use of lactic acid bacterial strains, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus casei in methods and compositions for preventing and treating cancer, in particular colon cancer.

La présente invention concerne la mise en évidence de nouvelles propriétés de souches bactériennes lactiques. Ces nouvelles propriétés sont avantageusement utiles dans la prévention et le traitement du cancer. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne l'usage de bactéries lactiques pour faciliter l'induction de I'apoptose cellulaire d'un cancer. La présente invention propose également l'utilisation de souches bactériennes lactiques, telles Lactobacillus acidophilus et Lactobacillus casei dans des méthodes et composition pour prévenir et traiter le cancer, notamment le cancer du colon.
